The trailer of the upcoming film ‘Mimi’ directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films released today. Actress Kriti Sanon is in the lead role along with Pankaj Tripathi, Sai Tamhankar, Manoj Pahawa and Supriya Pathak.
Mimi is an official remake of Samrudhi Pore-produced directed Marathi film Mala Aai Vhhaychay . Urmila Kanetkar-Kothare had a major role in the Marathi film I Want to Be a Mother released in 2011. The film, based on the theme of surrogacy, won the National Award for Best Marathi Film of the Year. A remake was released in Telugu in 2013 under the title ‘Welcome Obama’, starring Urmila Kanetkar. Mimi is director Laxman Utekar’s second Hindi film after his first successful attempt at directing the Hindi film ‘Luka Chhipi’ in 2019. As a photographer, Laxman Utekar was in charge of Khanna and Iyer, English Vinglish, Dear Zindagi, 102 Not Out. Famous musician A.R. Rehman’s music has benefited the Mimi film.
The shooting of the film had started in 2019 and the producers were preparing to release the film in 2020, but due to the outbreak of Kovid, the planning was delayed. Mimi will now be released on Netflix and Jio Cinema on July 30.
